    LISTEN TO

     SUNDAY’S SERMON FROM

  ST GEORGE’S

Open to any young people in year 7 and above, meets on the 2nd 3rd and 4th Sunday’s of the month during the morning service at St George’s church.    YPF look at the Bible and try to see how it can apply to their lives at school and college, as well as encourage each other in our relationships with God. The activities usually following the same themes as the main service.  Sometimes they pray, sometimes they play games, sometimes they even do both. There are usually around 6 young people each week at present.

Children aged between 4 and 10 meet in the Hayloft of St George’s House during the morning service every week, except during All-Age services. They play games and do activities usually around the theme being followed in church, using related Scripture Union materials. There are around half a dozen children attending Sunday School at present.

Where possible, leaders and helpers are timetabled on for half a term to ensure no-one misses out on too many services, some people however have offered to do more sessions due to a shortage of volunteers. There is currently a need for more leaders and helpers.

There are 2 groups that run for older teenagers wanting to deepen their faith by looking at the Bible in a small group, talking about relevant issues and how they relate to Christianity. Time is also spent just socialising, supporting and being accountable to each other.

Emily Young runs a girls group and Ben Kennedy runs a boys group. These 2 groups have recently started meeting for breakfast together before church once a month.

Some of the girls have also been involved in a local outreach project, with some young people form South Street Church, building a garden at the Cheshire Homes in Braunton.

‘Club’ meets on Sunday evenings from 6-8pm at St George’s House for young people of secondary school age. There is an additional ‘Social’ session for those in Year 10 and above from 8-9:30pm. .

Evenings comprise games and craft activities, and some input on what Christianity is about, in the form of a short talks, group activities, drama, discussion etc.

There are currently around 20-25 young people attending each week. Around 2/3 of the kids would probably say they have some Christian faith, which is great, but ‘Club’ is open to anyone whether they are Christian or not.

In the past ‘Club’ has  sponsored a 24 hour famine and raised around £500 for charity. They have also attended a Youth Event at South Street Church in Braunton, where they played games and spent time thinking about Christianity with other young people in the area.

This is an after-school club at Georgeham Primary School for anyone in Years 4, 5 and 6 to come along for fun activities and games, which teach them something about Christianity.

This has run very successfully in the past but at the moment is closed awaiting the need to find new volunteers to act as leaders.
